Default Should I accept the liability on this delivery?

MoneySavingExpert.com has just posted the following message with the title Should I accept the liability on this delivery?.

I ordered a washer and dryer from Tesco Direct and it was scheduled to arrive yesterday. I took the day off work and waited at home but the delivery never arrived. When I called Tesco today they said there was an error in their system and the courier never got the order, but they could deliver on Monday. I don't have any more leave left this year (used my last day to wait for the delivery that never came) so there's no way I can be home to sign for the items. Tesco said that just this once as an exception to their usual policy they would be willing to leave the items in my garage. However, I would have to accept all liability for loss or damage of the goods. I live in a very safe area and am not worried about robbery of the garage. But should I accept the liability? What if the lorry drivers just decide not to deliver it and say they did, or what if it gets banged about in the lorry and broken? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
