Protestors Attack Charles And Camilla Car

Massive questions over security have arisen following news that protestors successfully attacked a car carrying Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. As student protests continue to wage on about tuition fees, seemingly out of control, the Prince of Wales seems an unlikely target but the limousine carrying him and Camilla was attacked as bottles and paint were thrown at the car. The couple were said to be shaken but unharmed, although one projectile was believed to have smashed one of the car windows.

The limousine had just turned onto Regent Street as it made its way to the Royal Variety Performance Show when 20 protestors spotted it. Initially, they circled the car and started to rock it violently before throwing paint, bottles, and other projectiles over the vehicle. Photos of the couple show they were understandably and visibly shaken by the attack although they did continue their journey and they did enjoy the Variety Performance show that they were on their way to.

The student protests continue unabated and despite pleas for good sense students from across the country continue to wreak havoc. This latest move is unlikely to do their cause any good and may result in protests being given a less than lenient outlook in the future. The Prime Minister David Cameron described the attack as both shocking and regrettable while many people have questioned the security offered to the Prince and Duchess especially with the Royal Wedding due in just a few months.

Royal Wedding

It seem’s Kate Middleton’s parents might need to take out a sizeable loan when it comes time to pay for their daughter’s wedding with the bill currently standing at a rather cool GBP50m. Fortunately, of course, the Royal Family have said that they will help out with some of the financing and it’s the government, otherwise known as the taxpayer, that is going to foot the massive security bill that is currently responsible for around GBP30m of the GBP50m+ bill.

It’s difficult to see whether the public are going to take the news too well. A royal wedding is obviously a massive occasion and great reason for celebration, while the news of an extra bank holiday will certainly help set the stage for a positive reception to the wedding celebrations. However, at a time when just about everybody in the country is strapped for cash it’s possible that some will see it as a bit of a slap in the face.

Rings, excluding the irreplaceable engagement ring that once belonged to Princess Diana, are costing over three quarters of a million pounds and the cars, which may or may not run on a combination of bio-fuel and wine, are going to cost around GBP100,000. The 10 course wedding breakfast banquet is GBP300,000 and staff will cost GBP1.5m however all of this pales in comparison to the cumulative cost of security for the event. Internal security is costing GBP10m with external security totalling GBP30m and initial security checks alone racking up GBP9m in costs.

Yet More Rumours Of Royal Wedding Details

There’s barely a day goes by without some new rumour surfacing regarding the Royal Wedding 2011 and the latest has been let slip by no less than Sir Elton John who, when asked if he would be performing for Prince William and Kate Middleton he answered that he probably would. Quickly trying to cover his announcement up he joked that he would be busking outside, but the joke has hardly covered anything up with magazines and newspapers running the story.

Sir Elton John performed a special one off version of the song Candle In The Wind to commemorate Princess Diana’s death and it seems fitting, for Prince William at least, that Sir Elton would perform at his wedding too.

It’s also been reported that Earl Spencer will give a special speech about Princess Di on the big day and that his daughter Lady Kitty Spencer may well be one of the bridesmaids at the royal wedding.

So far, it’s been confirmed that the most hotly anticipated wedding will take place on the 29th April in Westminster Abbey. There are many ties between the Abbey and the royal family and, let’s face it, if you’re given the option of having your big day there then most people would jump at the chance. It’s certainly a step up from Harringey Registry Office.

You can bet there will be plenty more rumours afoot from the media and from close family sources. Oh, and memorabilia is already being manufactured so you can get your special royal engagement cups now if you like.

As expected, the newspapers and magazines are filled with information on the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton after the pair announced they had got engaged yesterday. Prince William actually proposed to long term girlfriend Kate Middleton in October while the pair were on holiday in Kenya but the official announcement was only made to the public and the press yesterday.

The press and royal fans all over the world are clearly excited about the prospect of a royal wedding and speculation over exactly when and where the couple will tie the knot. Westminster Abbey and St Pauls Cathedral are emerging as the most likely venues for the ceremony to take place after it was announced that the couple would definitely wed in London.

While it’s being debated whether an extra bank holiday will be announced to help mark the occasion, many people are questioning when exactly the celebration will take place. Sources are torn between July 8th, which may prove to be a little too close to Prince Albert of Monaco’s July 2nd Wedding, and August 12 and 13 when aides have made discreet enquiries about the availability of Westminster Abbey.

Jewellers have said that they are already being inundated with requests for rings like the one presented to Kate Middleton by Prince William which originally belonged to his mother, Princess Diana. Nothing’s really certain at the moment and you can expect a lot more source saying and rumour between now and the date the couple do get married.
