U2 To Headline Glastonbury 2011? Watch This Space
Posted on 05. Oct, 2010 by Matt.
Tickets for Glastonbury 2011 sold it in an astonishing four hours after going on sale at 9am yesterday, and the festival organiser Michael Eavis said that he would announce the headline acts as soon as the tickets were sold out, but U2 fans have been told simply to watch this space.
Having had to withdraw from this year’s event following an injury to Bono’s back, U2 have been widely tipped as being the headline act for next year’s festival. What’s more, according to NME, a quick trip to the band’s official website was greeted with a message saying that fans should definitely buy ticketsto next year’s event – the message was accompanied by a quote from band manager Paul McGuiness which read “We’re certainly excited about our plans for next year. Watch this space!”
Fans had been anxiously waiting to see U2 at the festival which stretches across 900 acres of countryside and inclueds poetry, comedy, and dance as well as music and the infamous array of tents, exhibitions, and other attractions (including mud and some seriously dangerous toilets). Unfortunately, Bono injured his back during rehearsal for the gig and they promptly withdrew from the festival to the dismay of thousands.
U2 were widely rumoured to have signed up for next year’s gig in order to make up for this disappointment and many believe that they will be one of the headline acts for the weekend but, as yet, nothing has been officially confirmed or denied – although the website comments do make for fairly certain reading.

Glastonbury Already Sold Out
Posted on 03. Oct, 2010 by Paul.
It may feel like this year’s festival has only just finished but tickets for Glastonbury 2011 have already sold out, within just 4 hours of going on general sale. NME magazine also reports that event organiser Michael Eavis has said that he will announced the three confirmed headline acts as soon as all of the tickets have sold out so that snippet of news should be incoming very soon too.
Tickets for Glastonbury 2011 went on sale at 9am this morning, October 3 and by 1:15pm they had all sold out. Event organisers thanked everybody for their patience on their website and via their Twitter feed.
If you missed out on tickets then you can log on to register for any cancelled tickets which may occur. This will happen tomorrow and by getting your name down early it is possible that you could be lucky enough to get any cancelled tickets. This reallocation happened in April this time round so you may have a few anxious months to wait though.
Tickets were selling for 195GBP and those lucky enough to get hold of their tickets also had to pay postage and packing and a 5GBP booking fee.
The festival will, as usual, take place at Worthy Farm from 24th to 26th June although the site will be open from 22nd so attendees can get their early to start soaking up the atmosphere before the main crowd arrives.
Michael Eavis has also denied reports suggesting that he would retire from arranging the event saying that, in actual fact, he has another 10 years or so left in him.
