Dan Harris First To Leave The Apprentice

So, the reality TV season is now well and truly under way. X Factor has kicked off amidst ongoing stories over Cheryl Cole and the death threats she’s receiving having kicked Gamu Nhengu out and Strictly Come Dancing has offered some reasonable car crash moments thanks to Anne Widdecombe and Paul Daniels (though nowhere near as many as we’d liked). The Apprentice has also started with all guns blazing and Dan Harris was the first to get the boot last night.

Sir Alan Sugar set the contestants the challenge of manufacturing and selling their own sausages and the contestants were split into groups of men and women. While the women got off to a good start, delegating jobs between them, the boys let their egos shine through. Dan Harris took the role of leader and duly fluffed it causing arguments and in-fighting as he was more than happy to bark orders but not so keen to do any of the actual work.

According to Marie Claire magazine, fefore being told he was fired, Dan was informed by Sir Alan that he didn’t run them very well and that his team had sold naff all. The 34 year old sales director then left the rest of the group who headed back to their luxury London apartment to drink champagne and await the next challenge to be set.

The contestants are competing to win a 6 figure job in one of Sir Alan’s numerous companies but did you watch it and did you think Dan should have been the first to go?

Cheryl Cole Receives Death Threats After Dropping Gamu Nhengu

The whole turbulent affair over Gamu Nhengu being dropped from the X Factor in favour of Cher Lloyd by Cheryl Cole just won’t go away and ludicrously, the Geordie singer is reported to have received death threats following her decision.

Gamu Nhengu had been the favourite to win the contest before the mentors’ final three were announced but amid speculation that X Factor bosses had stopped Cheryl from picking the 18 year old because of a work visa issue; a rumour which has sinec been denied, there has been a massive storm over the singing sensations omission.

We know people get a little fanatical over programs like the X Factor and some even take it as a personal assault when their favourite isn’t chosen but death threats is just a positively ludicrous over-reaction for such a matter.

There have been reports that next week’s “shock” twist in the program will be a fifth group made up of the best acts to have been dropped from the boot camp stages so far. As such, and amid the media flair up over Gamu, she remained second favourite to win the competition although further rumours have now spread denying that she will be given a second chance.

Tiffany Pisani Wins Britains Next Top Model

The winnero f Britain’s Next Top Model was announced by Elle McPherson last night and, in a bid to avoid the controversial (but hilarious) mistake that occurred during the Australian version of the show where the wrong contestant thought they had won and even started their speech, Elle announced that the winner would appear on the screen in ten seconds. Phew, no confusion there then.

18 year old Tiffany Pisani won through, in the end, beating fellow finalist Alish White wins a Revlon campaign as well as a contract with agency Models 1 and the chance to appear on the cover of Company Magazine.

Company magazine has chatted to the winner ahead of her big December shoot. She said that winning the competition was a massive shock and she was so convinced that she would come third that she bet 100GBP with fellow finalist Alisha. In the end neither of them won the money because they finished 2nd and 3rd.

It sounds like the victory hasn’t really sunken in yet either as she laid in bed questioning whether she’d really won the event. But then, who can blame her, after the fiasco in Asutralia’s Next Top Model.

Three versions of the Company Magazine December cover have already been shot and now that the winner has been announced it means that the cover featuring Tiffany Pisani will be the one that readers will be able to see in a couple of month’s time.

Controversy Following Cheryl’s X Factor Decision Spreads To Facebook

Posted on 05. Oct, 2010 by .

Political activism it isn’t but Facebook has once again become the sounding board for frustrated people from all over the country.

More than 125,000 people have joined a variety of Facebook Groups calling to have Gamu Nhengu put back in the competition. The real row seems to be over exactly who is to blame for the exit with some sources saying that production staff were responsible because of the axed singer’s visa renewal problems while show insiders have said that this was nothing to do with the discussion.

Despite being kicked out, Gamu remains the 2nd favourite to win the competition with many bookmakers, as viewers believe the “twist” that is being promised next week is the formation of a fifth category made up from contestants that have already been booted out of the show. Such is the talent’s popularity that even though nobody knows for certain whether this will happen, they are still willing to take that chance in the unerring belief that if it does, then she is bound to go on and win the competition – with the amount of backing she’s now received it’s hard to argue.

The 12 finalists were announced last weekend and Cheryl faced some serious press after she failed to put Gamu through, instead choosing the likes of Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel. As seems to be the case in all such matters, Cheryl has now been dragged into a race row over the whole incident according to Marie Claire magazine, although quite how she selected two singers that failed to even finish a song does beggar belief.

Norman Wisdom Dies Aged 95 – Mourned By Pretty Much Everybody

Posted on 05. Oct, 2010 by .

He was one of the most endearing and warming faces to be seen on TV, not only here in the UK but throughout the world. Such was his flavour of comedy that Norman Wisdom starred in films that were the only Western filmed movies to be shown in communist Albania where hits like A Stitch In Time and Trouble in Store gained him an almost religious following and making him a hero of people of all ages from the Albanian country.

Sir Norman Wisdom was 95 years old when he died peacefully in Abbotswood Nursing Home. He had endured several strokes in the past 6 months as well as a general decline in both his mental and physical health. In the last few days, he had become completely dependent on others and he passed over at 18:46 on OCtober 4th.

Phil Day, Norman’s publicist who also asked the man described as a “comedy genius” to be the godfather to his son, desribed him as being completely professional and a lovely man. He did also say that whatever was said you had to check back to see if he was being serious.

According to What’s On TV Magazine, even the Albanian Prime Minister joined in the accolades for the comic. Sali Berisha said “Today the Albanians share in the mourning together with the Wisdom family, the friends and fans of their most beloved entertainer.”

Cheryl Cole Admits To Nerves For This Years X Factor

Posted on 04. Oct, 2010 by .

Cheryl Cole is attempting to make it 3 out of 3 in this years X Factor having won the previous two series with Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry. However, having had a lot of time off after contracting Malaria the Girls Aloud singer said she is more nervous than ever having missed so much of the series already including the boot camp stage and many of the first auditions. However, despite that, she has watched her finalists on video and has arguably the strongest category in order to help ensure her win.

Cheryl has been given the girls category and has managed to cause controversy already by selecting Cher Lloyd as one of her finalists despite the 17 year old being unable to sing because of a soar throat.

According to OK Magazine, the Geordie mentor has said that she enjoys watching all of the auditions and the boot camp stage because it provides her with the information she needs in order to choose the stars most likely to win the competition for her. By missing out on large amounts of the process this year, Cheryl has allowed nerves to creep into her judging process.

Cheryl will be represented in the final stages by Cher Lloyd, Katie Waissel, and Rebecca Ferguson though many believe that Cher Lloyd is a dangerous choice because although she showed unique and obvious talent in the very easly stages she is seemingly unable to complete a song without breaking down. The singer, who looks as though she models herself on Cheryl, was one of the favourites to win the competition before her illness.

Louis Walsh Tells All While Showing Off Miami Pad In Hello Magazine

Posted on 04. Oct, 2010 by .

Pretty much every snippet of news and gossip in the magazines at the moment is reality TV based as the X Factor finalists were chosen and Strictly Come Dancing gets off to a popular start. Louis Walsh clearly doesn’t want to miss out on the spotlight as he is in Hello Magazine not only showing off his new minimalist pad in Miami but also telling his story on the other judges, whoe he thinks will win, and what he thinks of Dannii Minogue.

Despite their well publicised early differences in the show, Louis and Dannii apparently now get on really well and have even formed an unofficial pact against Cheryl and Simon. He says that he has discovered Dannii has a really good side and that she truly cares about the contestants under her charge.

Louis also describes Simon as being a big influence in his life but goes on to joke that Simon grooms himself to death and that he’s looking younger with every series. Simon is, apparently, the judge that works the hardest of all of them but this doen’t mean that he is the most driven and the most ambitious.

The Westlife manager says that Simon works too hard to be the most ambitious and that without doubt that accolade must go to Cheryl Cole, who having recently returned to judging following her bout of malaria has caused some controversy by choosing Cher Lloyd as one of her finalists.

Cher Lloyd Somehow Makes Final 12

Posted on 03. Oct, 2010 by .

The X Factor is well under way now, with the montors having picked their final 3 to take into the competition proper. Taking on the matriarchal role, Cheryl Cole put through two performers who couldn’t even finish a song without breaking down in tears while the king of munfactured pop, Simon Cowell, put the two most manufactured bands in the competition through to the final stages.

17 year old Cher Lloyd has been a massive hit on YouTube since appearing in her first audition and the Cheryl wannabe, who clearly models herself on the Girls Aloud singer, had been installed as the bookie’s favourite but disaster struck on Saturday night as the teenager was suffering from inflamed tonsils, was unable to finish her song, and left the room crying.

Another of Cheryl’s hopefuls, Katie Waissel, was struck down with nerves once again, and despite not yet managing to sing an entire song without hysterics, has also been put through. Cheryl’s third hope is Rebecca Ferguson.

As reported by Now Magazine, Dannii Minogue selected Aiden Grimshaw, Nicolo Festa, and Matt Cardle for the boys category while Louis, who must have had the hardest time making his selections opted for Storm Lee, John Adeleye, and Mary Byrne.

Simon opted for the two groups made up of individuals who weren’t considered good enough to get through on their own individual merits, 1 Direction and Bell Amie, as well as FYD.

The favourite for the competition is now Matt Cardle at odds of around 3/1 with Rebecca Ferguson and 1 Direction second favourites at around 4/1. Cher Lloyd now looks like a reasonable outside bet at odds of 6/1 with some bookmakers but FYD are not popular with odds of 25/1 to win the competition.

Star Wars 3D Will Be In Cinemas By 2012

Posted on 29. Sep, 2010 by .

Total Film Magazine reports that George Lucas has deemed 3D technology worthy of the Star Wars franchise as he has declared that there are now enough cinemas with the capability to show the sci-fi films in full 3D. The first film, which is unfortunately the Phantom Menace will be released in 2012 and the rest will follow in order if they prove popular enough. Lucas has also said that all 6 of the films will be made available on Blu-Ray giving you yet another way to line the pickets of Lucas Arts… sorry, we mean watch all of the improved versions.

Lucas has expressed concerns over whether there would be enough venues to warrant paying for the re-rendering into 3D although he has expressed his itnerest in 3D in general especially for other titles that could potentially hit our 3D glasses soon.

As more and more cinemas across the world open their doors to the 3D viewing public, we are clearly now deemed worthy enough that Lucas Arts would repay some of the luducrous following that Star Trek has gained over the years.

The love from Lucas definitely isn’t unconditional. The only guaranteed release of any of the films is The Phantom Menace which is arguably the worst and almost certainly the least popular of them all. This will hit cinemas in 2012 and Lucas has said that if, and presumably only if, this proves to be popular enough then the remaining 5 films will also be converted to 3D and aired.

Piers Morgan Gives Away US X Factor Judge Names

Posted on 28. Sep, 2010 by .

It’s not really a great surprise when you read the names anyway but apparently Piers Morgan has accidentally let it slip that the two new judges for the US version of the X Factor will be Cheryl Cole and Nicole Scherzinger.

Cheryl Cole has been touted for the US show for a while now, especially as the Geordie star wants to break the US and sees the X Factor as the perfect way to do it. Nicole Scherzinger also proved very popular as Cheryl’s replacement in the UK version of the reality show
